FAQ – Coping with Depression

Coping with Depression is a program that teaches lifestyle tools to empower people suffering from depression to better cope.

Coping with Depression program is facilitated by the People Matter Project ministry from the Nepean Adventist church. The presenters are Pastor Bob Winsor and Vicki Wallace RN.

Pastor Bob has extensive experience in counseling / depression while Vicki is a seasoned nurse who has experience in caregiver / depression support.

No. While some material is based on biblical principles, the information is primarily drawn from scientific research. It is not a Bible study or prayer meeting. The program offers solid, practical and easy to apply coping mechanisms for everyone, regardless of your beliefs. Our presenters teach from their own experiences in an inclusive way.

The Coping with Depression program typically runs once a week for 8 consecutive weeks. Each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours. 

It’s FREE! We do ask our registrants to commit to attend the 8 weeks since the program builds from one week to another.  

The program takes place in the basement main hall of the Nepean Adventist Church, 4010 Strandherd Drive, Barrhaven. During the COVID pandemic, it is run via Zoom.

The program is held annually from April to June. Check the calendar on our website for the next program dates.

Unfortunately. no. We understand your commitment to family, but to keep the program focused on you, and as a courtesy to others, we are limiting participation to registrants only.

People aged 13+ can attend the program. Since children 12 and under have unique needs that this program is not able to meet, we will refer them to other community supports.

In-person, the program accommodates a maximum of 20 people.

Via zoom, we accommodate up to 50 people.
